When you grow up in an Italian household, food is how you show love. It’s the center of connection, laughter, and vivid memories. My passion for food comes from these traditions and my curiosity to reimagine what’s familiar has always pushed me to make a good thing even better.
That’s what drew me to hot honey. It reminded me of the chili oils on every Italian table, but with a sweet twist. Honey balanced the heat beautifully, and I pictured it luxuriously dript™ over pizza, cutlet sandwiches, and cheese boards. The contrast of flavours stuck with me.
When I couldn’t find hot honey anywhere in Canada, I began making it myself. But it wasn’t until my mother, known in our family as Nonna Rita, joined me in the kitchen and shared her signature chili blend that the recipe came alive. Her blend, passed down through generations, gave the honey its depth and unforgettable heat.
Excited, I started sharing bottles at dinner parties and BBQs. Friends went wild for it. Orders poured in, and soon I was making extra bottles for people to take home. Demand grew, and by 2015, Dript Gourmet landed on its first retail shelf.
That was just the beginning.
